The singing thrush is 20 to 23.5 cm tall and weighs 50 to 107 g. The plumage of the male and female is similar. The back is straight brown, the underbelly is cream or yellow-tan with black spots in a "V" shape, and the belly feathers are paler. Their tails are short. The underwings are warm yellow, the beak is yellowish, and the feet and legs are pink. The tone of the upper plumage of this species becomes dull from Sweden to Siberia. Juveniles are similar to adult birds, but have tan and orange stripes on their backs and upper wing feathers.
